Astronomy Study Guide Version 1.3 by C. Heller |
This course is the first semester of the Astronomy 1010/1020 series, a non-mathematical
introduction to our Universe. This course concentrates on solar system astronomy,
the study of our Sun and Planets. It also explores the development of the methods,
principles, and history of scientific thought as applied to Astronomy.
There will be three in-class tests and a comprehensive final.
Tests will cover lecture material and assigned readings. In-class quizzes
covering assigned reading will also be given during the semester. All
tests and quizzes will be multiple choice, using standard machine-graded answer sheets.
The student is responsible for having his/her student ID card, number 2
pencil and scantron ParSCORE 48/TSM test form available on each test date. In addition in-class
writing assignments will be given during the semester.
If you know you will not be able to take an exam for a valid reason you can make an
appointment, in advance of the test date, to take a makeup exam.
All makeup exams will consist of essay questions. All four tests must be taken
to complete the course. An exam missed for a valid reason must be reported to the
instructor within two days of the exam.
